AGEP

The UC Hiring Interventions for Representation and Equity (HIRE) Alliance is an NSF-funded network that brings together four University of California (UC) campuses: Irvine, San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz – all of which are Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) or emerging HSIs. The goal of this Alliance is to develop, implement, self-study, evaluate, and disseminate an AGEP (Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate) Alliance Model focused on increasing the number of Latinx teaching-focused STEM faculty.

The AGEP Alliance team will recruit STEM faculty fellows, individuals on each campus who have or are participating in LPSOE/teaching professor hiring committees, as agents to improve hiring practices and department climate by collaboratively creating and implementing objective rubrics for both the teaching faculty search processes and for evaluation of candidates’ teaching skills.

Through the collaborative efforts of grant personnel, faculty fellows, and UC administrators, the UC HIRE Alliance will generate recommended hiring guidelines and rubrics that can be leveraged by departments interested in participating in a more inclusive faculty hiring process. The Alliance also will prioritize the evaluation of grant activities to measure their effectiveness. As Alliance products are generated, we aim to share them on this page.
